DataPipe Aids Data Rectification and Cleanup

DataMystic has released DataPipe v2.4, a Windows application that lets database administrators, business analysts and IT consultants easily correct invalid records in databases without programming.

Unlike other tools, DataPipe can interactively search and replace through a database, allowing each change to be checked if necessary. Another unique feature is the application of pattern matching and replacing, which can be used to re-arrange text such as swapping the order of dates or surnames and first names.

DataPipe also provides sophisticated text modification and cleanup scripts to

  • Correct capitalization in names and surnames (even with names like Mac and Mc, de and van de etc)
  • Standardize formatting of addresses (e.g. PO Box, P.O. Box, POBOX)
  • Extract email addresses for your next marketing campaign
  • Trim blanks and multiple white space
  • Remove binary "garbage" characters
  • Remove HTML, XML and SGML
  • Remove blank lines
  • Insert or remove text within a column
  • Truncate or pad a column to a specified width

Custom scripts can also be written using industry standard VBScript and JScript scripting languages. There is even a command line processor that makes it easy to set up automated processing at predetermined times.

DataPipe can connect to any database through its OLE DB or ODBC database driver - SQL Server, MS Access, Oracle, DB2, Informix, SyBase, RedBrick, MySQL, TeraData etc.
